Usability University Unveils Seminar, Training, and Professional Development Schedule

The General Services Administration (GSA) and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) are sponsoring a new, comprehensive usability training program called Usability University.

Usability University will offer federal staff, federal contractors, and other interested parties a variety of user experience training opportunities including free seminars and in-depth courses at nominal rates. The purpose of the University is to share, promote, and demonstrate usability policies, methods, research, and best practices to improve the usability of federal Web sites and other communication technologies. These seminars and courses are designed to provide current, hands-on, practical training for Web developers, editors, content managers, marketing staff, and others.

Physician Heal Thyself?

Submitted by Akanowicz on May 31, 2004 - 17:39.

It looks like a good series. However, I feel compelled to comment (since we are talking about usability) that their website is...bad. More than a few links that I clicked on (from the links provided in the article) ended up with Page Not Found errors. And the homepage doesn't even display in my browser at all (Safari 1.2.2). Ron

Interestingly, I also use Safari 1.2.2 and I had no problem viewing the linked page and their home page. I also didn't immediately find any broken links, so perhaps the site is a work in progress... Funny though, that neither the linked page, nor their home page, passes Bobby's Section 508 check.

I too use Safari 1.2.2 and I have faced no problems viewing the page

So what do you think:

[Safari 1.2.2]V/S[Bobby].

Editor's note: Please do not try to hide links in punctuation. It does not serve your search engine ranking and it's not respectful for the site you post on. Thank you. (oh, and that's very non-professional, too).

I'd think a usability study

Submitted by jasonla on January 7, 2009 - 18:32.

I'd think a usability study for government websites is pretty good considering they are pretty difficult to navigate. My local government has been updating theirs and is pretty easy to use. Almost any web developer should know how to make them easier to use not sure why they need to call this a Usability University, i wonder if they'll be giving out fake diplomas once completed.
