Netscape Themes Contest

To get some excitement going about the upcoming release of Netscape 6 and to get more developers interested in the new product, Netscape is sponsoring a themes contest.

The new release of Netscape, based on the Mozilla project, has technology built in that allows for the browser and its components to be 'skinable'. You can see some examples at Mozillazine.org.

Prizes include a Philips Plasma TV(yummy), a Sony Digital Camera, and an Apple iBook for the top three places. Ten honorable mentions will recieve Diamond Rio MP3 players as well. If you're interested, find out how to get started creating themes. Hit the homepage for more details, rules, etc..

I've always wondered if we could get an evolt theme together.. Any takers? :)

I can see everybody who ever developed a skin for NeoPlanet or WinAMP jumping into this one. As for an evolt.org theme, well, as of this writing, this site has the old layout, so those of us who can see the new site in development have an advantage. Well, I have until September 30.

True about the old layout, but our logo and its colors are still consistant.. Or we could design one based on the new layout/look..

Is it just me or are there only 2 skins there to look at so far? Pretty dismal turn out. *opens photoshop...*

Ya, its pretty slim right now. There are only 2 skins that ship with netscape 6 by default. There are others you can download(follow the link to the mozillazine.org site above) and use that fellow developers have made.. I also know that our(Oracular's) graphic designer (andy) is working on an evolt theme in his spare time.. Of course, I'd love to see what you can do though iSac :)

Only 2 skins so far (May2003)

Who won that Plasma TV? The current netscape version is 7.02 As of today ther are only 2 skins so far (May2003) 1. Toy Factory by Netscape 2. American American by Netscape
