The Sausage Software Web site last night won the Most Popular Australian Web site category for the second year running in the Australian Internet Awards. Judged by an independent panel of judges, and based on public nomination, Sausage beat all competition including a snow information Web site (ski.com.au) and the image library sweeet.com.
Votes from Australia, and around the world, totalled over 13 000 for the 18 categories (the winners of which are listed further down), and there was a large increase in votes over previous years. Hugh Irvine and Chris Chaundy, founders of Connect (an ISP) were this year inducted into the Australian Internet Hall of Fame for "an exceptional contribution" to the development of the Internet in Australia.
