A recent Nielsen report into Internet audiences in the United Kingdom has turned up some unexpected results. According to the survey of 4715 adults, roughly 40% of the UK population, and nearly 70% of 16-24 year-olds, have access to the internet.

Further, the survey shows that the "most wired" parts of society tend to be those that are younger, and those that earn more than UKP 30 000.

A brief synopsis of the report can be found on the BBC News Web site.
