Zend Com For Php Goes Live

The awaited Zend.com for PHP developers has launched.

Complementing the official PHP site, the Zend site is an extensive resource for PHP development, including code, documentation, and discussion for developers.

Zend Technologies Ltd is founded by Andi Gutmans and Zeev Suraski, two of PHP's creators, and CEO Doron Gerstel who has experience managing hi-tech companies.

Zend are also responsible for the Zend Engine which is described as "the basic scripting engine which drives PHP". It is licenced for free to PHP, but can also be used for other applications.

The company expects from March 8 to have a product called Zend Optimizer available for download, which they claim can double the running speed of PHP applications, by lowering the CPU load and halving latency times.
